Irreguarly rambling about web development and technology

About

mdibb.co.uk is a blog about web development and related goings on written and maintained by Matt Dibb. I am a 20-something living in the North London area who has been dabbling in web-related stuff pretty much as soon as 14.4k modems were around. Recently I have started to take it a bit more seriously and have been running several web sites “professionally” if you can call it that…

All of the views and opinions on this blog are my own, but time for some disclosure: I am an employee of IBM, having recently managed to gain a place on the IT Consultant graduate scheme. IBM encourage their employees to get out on the net and get involved with wikis and blogging and things; they generally just get the whole web 2.0 idea, but there is the ‘legalese’ to get through anyway:

The postings on this site are my own and don’t necessarily represent IBM’s positions, strategies or opinions.

Just to totally be clear on this: this blog is a personal effort representing my own views/opinions/techniques and so on, and has nothing to do with my employment by IBM. What you read here is merely the output and thoughts from my own personal pursuits as a hobbyist in the field.

If you think I’ve made a mistake or I’ve got something wrong, please leave a comment explaining why - its all part of the learning process for me and others who read this!

Having said that though, IBMers are a pretty friendly and helpful group of people who are more than happy to talk about technology, so if you want to find some more blogs from IBMers, just google the generic IBM blog disclaimer!

I was just doing some updates to one of my sites to fix some dynamic javascript problems that I'd discovered with the past couple of Firefox 3 betas.   A page I'd designed back in 2006 had a moving DIV that changed position as a result of a post back from ...
